The University of Utah Lyric Opera Ensemble presents "Hansel and Gretel." Robert Baldwin conducts the Utah Philharmonia and singers in this double-cast production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s grand score, which includes favorite tunes such as the "Evening Prayer."

New York-based stage director Michael Scarola and U. opera program boss Robert Breault direct the opera, which will be sung in English with supertitles. Forty members of the International Children’s Choir will portray gingerbread children, angels and animals. Sets and costumes are from Utah Opera’s 2011 production. There will be a backstage production tour starting around 6:30 p.m.
