Attendance is way up at new Loveland Living Planet Aquarium

Utahns are demonstrating a definite affinity for fish at the newly opened Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.

According to aquarium staff, the facility attracted nearly 40,000 visitors in its first six days of operation. That’s almost 9 percent of the total attendance in 2012, the last full year the older facility in Sandy was open.

(The previous aquarium closed in early September 2013 in preparation for the move.)

The new facility in Draper is more than three times the size of the old one and features thousands of animals in 600,000 gallons of water spread across 74 exhibits.

The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, 12033 S. Lone Peak Parkway, Draper, is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tickets are $15.95 for adults; $12.95 for students 13-17, seniors and military; $10.95 for children 3-12; children 2 and younger get in for free.
