Emily Ellyn, the Retro Rad chef featured on Food Network’s "Next Food Network Star," and Matt Muenster, host of DIY Network’s "Bath Crashers," are the special guests at The Salt Lake Tribune’s annual Home and Garden Festival. The annual event also offers three days of cooking demonstrations, landscaping ideas, garden tips and more.

Deer Valley chef on "Today" show

Jodie Rogers, the executive chef of Deer Valley Resort Resort’s Snow Park and Empire Canyon Lodges, will appear on NBC’s "Today" show on Thursday, March 6. For the in-studio kitchen segment, Rogers will show viewers how to make a variety of creative pancakes, from carrot cake pancakes with cream cheese frosting to bacon, blueberry and fresh thyme pancakes.

Salt Lake City ‘Guac-Off’

Four local chefs will battle to create Salt Lake City’s best guacamole during the second annual "Guac-Off." This fundraiser for the Whole Planet Foundation includes a silent auction, live music, food samples, tapas, beer tasting and the competition, which will involve 500 avocados. Sponsored by Whole Foods, Laurie’s Buffalo Gourmet and Uinta Brewing.

Winter Market continues

A few new vendors have been added to the bi-weekly winter farmers market, according to the Downtown Alliance, which sponsors the event. Customers can look for fresh produce, grass-fed meats, local cheeses, jams and spreads, chocolates and sweets, and baked goods. With 60 vendors, there’s something for everyone.
