The Beatles are renowned for pioneering several musical trends way ahead of their time, but according to Jimmy Fallon they were also savvy when it came to social media.

On the Tonight Show this week, Fallon claimed to have "unearthed" never-before-seen footage of the Fab Four talking to the crowd after their debut performance on the Ed Sullivan stage back in 1964.

The clip features Fallon breaking out his best Liverpudlian accent as guitarist John Lennon. While the vintage Beatlemaniacs cheer, Fallon plugs the bands’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Pal Fred Armisen joins in as drummer Ringo Starr.

Fallon takes a crack at promotional social campaigns, plugging the various co-branded hashtags that fans can use, including contest tags #SpriteBeatles and #RedBullBeatles.
