The Utah Symphony is launching a contest on Saturday, Jan. 25, in which listeners are invited to work out highlights of its 2014-15 season. The grand prize? A pair of season tickets.

The orchestra will reveal one clue every day (except Sunday) from now until Monday, Feb. 3. Participants have until 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, to submit answers online. The entire season lineup will be released that day.

"We wanted to encourage a fun interaction with our audiences and create a compelling reason for them to solve clues leading to some of the better-known works in our 2014-15 Masterworks series," Jon Miles, vice president of marketing and public relations, said in a news release. "We believe that a grand prize of tickets to the 2014-15 season of Utah Symphony performances certainly raises the bar and is a great enough incentive to commit to the entire hunt. Perhaps families or friends can even put their heads together to create a team effort."

Clues will be released each morning of the contest at www.utahsymphony.org/blog. They will take various forms, including audio clips, word scrambles and visual collages, and will relate to pieces of music, guest artists or program themes. The hunt will include a clue to an upcoming symphony cycle being done in honor of Maurice Abravanel, the Utah Symphony’s music director from 1947 to 1979.

For every correct answer (and bonus elements such as guest artists), players will receive Utah Symphony Bucks valued at $10 for future performances. Participants who figure out all eight answers correctly will receive a voucher good for a ticket to an upcoming performance and be entered into a drawing for the grand prize: a pair of tickets to each performance in the Utah Symphony’s 2014-15 season, a stay in a Salt Lake City hotel and dinner for two at an area restaurant.
