In Richard Linklater's new movie "Boyhood," Ellar Coltrane plays Mason, a boy who literally grows up before the viewers' eyes. The movie, shot in short bursts from 2000 to 2013, will have a special preview screening at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

"Boyhood," Richard Linklater’s groundbreaking and experimental film shot over short periods from 2000 to 2013, made a special preview Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City.
The movie covers 12 years in the life of a family, focusing on Mason (played by Ellar Coltrane), who with his sister Samantha (played by Linklater’s daughter, Lorelei), moves through the emotional journey from childhood to adulthood. Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke play Mason and Samantha’s parents.
