James Avery, Uncle Phil from ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,’ dies at 65

James Avery’s publicist, Cynthia Snyder, told The Associated Press that Avery died Tuesday in Glendale, Calif., following complications from open heart surgery. He was 68, Snyder said.

CNN is reporting that actor James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" died Tuesday at the age of 64.The news was confirmed by his former co-star from that show, Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Avery's son Carlton on the show.I'm deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away.
