Winter Solstice Celebration • Celebrate the solstice with your children by creating head-wreaths and winter candles and sipping hot chocolate. More information, www.redbuttegarden.org/winter_solstice?mini=calendar%2F2013-12 or 801-585-0556.

Where: Red Butte Garden, 300 Wakara Way

Admission: Included with regular admission of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and over, $6 for children 3-17.

Candlelight Christmas • Celebrate the season by taking a step back in time while making crafts and homemade gifts and visiting with Father Christmas, reindeer, a live Nativity and the Heritage Village Carolers. More information, www.thisistheplace.org or 801-582-1847.

Where: This Is The Place Heritage Park, 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave.

Admission: $10 adults, $7 seniors and children 3-11

Lifting those with leprosy fundraiser • Come help raise money for aid to leper colonies in India. There will be a silent auction and raffle. More information, www.facebook.com/events/549377418477874/.

Shred the Edge • Brighton is hosting Shred the Edge with all proceeds benefitting Special Olympics Utah. In addition to skiing, the event includes a DJ, photo booth and snowboard raffle. Register in advance at sout.org/shredtheedge.
