Death on K2

The documentary "The Summit," a gripping look at a notorious and deadly trek to the summit of Himalayan peak K2 in 2008 — combining first-hand accounts and re-enacted scenes.

May-December romance

The Tower Theatre's "Tower Through Time" series starts with Billy Wilder's 1954 romance "Sabrina," about a chauffeur's daughter (Audrey Hepburn) who turns the heads of a playboy (William Holden) and his dour older brother (Humphrey Bogart).

What the hellz?

The odd 1941 musical "Hellzapoppin'," starring the comedy team of Olsen & Johnson as two guys trying to make a movie but encountering all sorts of complications. This month's Incredibly Strange Movie Night entry from the Lost Media Archive.

Alone in space

A screening of the 2009 thriller "Moon," about a lonely astronaut (Sam Rockwell) on a lunar station. Part of the "Ivory Tower" series, presented by Westminster College and the Salt Lake Film Society.

Hitting the powder

The ski movie "Elevation," from Powderwhore Productions. A raffle will be held, with proceeds benefiting the Utah Avalanche Center.

Riffing to 'Santa'

"RiffTrax Live," the joke-along movie guys who used to be on "Mystery Science Theatre 3000," adds its humor to the kitschy Christmas classic "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."

The 1955 real-life inspirational drama "A Man Called Peter," starring Richard Todd as a Scottish Presbyterian minister who became the chaplain of the U.S. Senate. Part of the BYU Motion Picture Archive Film Series.

Love at midlife

The romance "Enough Said," about a 40ish massage therapist (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who meets a charming museum curator (James Gandolfini).

Spy Hop's 'Fifteen'

Utah Museum of Contemporary Art will present "Fifteen," a Spy Hop video installation that explores the complicated nature of today's path to adulthood. A panel discussion will be held Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. followed by an opening reception at 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through Jan. 4, 2014.
