Three Utah bars and a popular Salt Lake City gourmet food shop paid more than $12,000 in fines in October for selling alcohol to minors.

Deseret Edge Brewery and Pub, Lumpy’s Downtown and Goodtimes Saloon in Layton were all given three citations each by liquor control officers, according to a monthly report from the Utah Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The citations included: sales to minors, having minors on the premise of a club and failure to use proper license scanning devices. Each violation came with a $1,000 fine, plus costs for a total of $3,127 per establishment.

Tony Caputo’s Market and Deli in Salt Lake City also was cited for sale to minors but received a tougher 10-day license suspension and a fine of $3,000 plus $127 in costs. Caputo’s suspension, its second, took place between Oct. 16-26.

These were the most severe fines issued in October. In all, 25 restaurants and bars were cited for violating state liquor laws this month, according to the report.
