DVD • In its second season, "New Girl" became less about the girl and more about the ensemble surrounding her. Which was mostly a good thing. The adorkable Zooey Deschanel remains at the center of the sitcom as the adorkable Jess, but she's part of the gang now.

A decidedly weird gang, because Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Cece (Hannah Simone) are all, well, quirky. REALLY quirky. Season 2 was a bit of a roller coaster from week to week, but there was something to laugh at in every episode.

"New Girl" can be over-the-top crazy one minute and surprisingly sweet — even romantic — the next. It's worth watching. —
