LGBT Pride in Provo • While Utah County may be one of the most conservative places in the United States, many residents weren't afraid to stand up for equality on Saturday during the first Provo Pride Festival. A celebration of the LGBT — lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered — community, the event also was a way to rally support for nondiscrimination laws in Utah.
Going to the dogs • The annual Strut Your Mutt dog walk pounced through Liberty Park, raising money to help stray pets.
Saving lives • Discovery Gateway: The Children's Museum of Utah held a grand opening for its expanded "Saving Lives from the Sky" exhibit. The museum's authentic Life Flight helicopter is now paired with a mock Primary Children's Medical Center Emergency Department. Up to 40 children can play together, coordinating a Life Flight launch, transporting patients to the emergency department and arranging treatment.
Musical Whodunit • Pioneer Theatre Company kicked off its 2013 season with the musical murder mystery "Something's Afoot." The comedy, which includes several Broadway-caliber singers and dancers, continues through Oct. 5.
