Gallery Stroll steps ahead of fall
It's the weekend of the solstice, so give equal time to the monthly gallery stroll in Salt Lake City (gallerystroll.org">http://www.gallerystroll.org), Friday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. at participating galleries.
Here are a few highlights:
Making a 'Splash!' • Horne Fine Art, 142 E. 800 South, is marking its 10th anniversary with an exhibit called "Splash!" It's a group show with a water theme. Among the highlights is a new series of swimmer paintings by Jamie Wayman. Works by Barbara and Glen Edwards, Phyllis Horne, Karen Horne and Ken Baxter are also included.
An eye for details • The exhibit at Local Colors of Utah, 1054 E. 2100 South, is "A Closer Look." It features detail-oriented work by photographer Rebecca Gates, glass artist Wayne Jacobsen and jeweler Ruth Kadas.
Kids meet pros • Neighborhood House Association, which provides affordable day care and support services, is set to unveil the results of a project with the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. The "Drawn Together" project features work of local artists who have transferred and elaborated children's drawings onto the garage doors of the Neighborhood House parking lot, 1050 W. 500 South. People can vote on an Audience Favorite Award at a reception Friday, starting at 6 p.m.
