Days of '47 events around Utah

In addition to the Days of '47 events, communities around the state have planned other July 24 celebrations. Here's a list of what's happening:

SALT LAKE COUNTY

Days of '47 Fireworks at Liberty Park 2013

Enjoy Salt Lake City's biggest Pioneer Day fireworks show.

Entertainment, food, arts and crafts, fireworks.

Entertainment, food, drumming and a pageant.

Bogguss in concert

Grammy and CMA award-winning recording artist Suzy Bogguss will perform at the Days of '47 Rodeo.

When • Tuesday and Wednesday, July 23-24, 6:30 p.m.

Salt Lake Bees vs Fresno Grizzlies

The Salt Lake Bees baseball team takes on the Fresno Grizzlies. There will be fireworks after the game.

Brother Brigham's Ball

This Is the Place Heritage Park will hold the fifth annual Brother Brigham's Ball, celebrating Brigham Young's contributions to Utah as the governor and president of the LDS Church.

Pioneer Days — This Is the Place Heritage Park

This Is the Place Heritage Park will hold a patriotic flag ceremony, a watermelon-eating contest and a Pioneer Parade down Main Street. Come prepared to have some fun playing old-fashioned games.

When • Wednesday, July 24, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Butlerville Days

The Cottonwood Heights Community will hold its annual Butlerville Days that will feature a parade, inflatables, face painting, bike parade, food, classic car show, pie-eating contest, mechanical-bull rides, a juggling show and free watermelon. Fireworks start at 9:45 p.m.

When • Wednesday, July 24, 3-10:30 p.m.

Merrill Osmond's Pioneer Jubilee

Merrill Osmond will present the Pioneer Jubilee, which includes antique, Western-themed and handmade crafts. There will be a variety of activities for children, traveling the frontier in potato-sack races, riding ponies, feeding and petting livestock, and chasing greased pigs for fun prizes and awards. Proceeds from this event go toward the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund, where many deaf children will receive the gift of hearing.

DAVIS COUNTY

Bountiful Handcart Days

Bountiful will celebrate July 24 with its Handcart Days. There will be historic tours all day, a party in city park, games and activities, food and entertainment. The parade will be July 23 at 6 p.m. Fireworks are at Mueller Park Junior High on July 23, 9:45 p.m.

Taste of the Town — Layton

The Davis Chamber of Commerce will host the Taste of the Town. This is a family-friendly and affordable way to taste your way around favorite local restaurants in a festive outdoor setting. There will also be face-painting, balloons and live music.

Riders in the Sky

Layton City Recreation Department presents the annual Riders in the Sky Pioneer Day concert. This is the Grammy Award-winning band featured on albums including "The Cowboy Way," "Woody's Roundup" and "Monsters Inc." Seats are first come, first served.

WEBER COUNTY

Ogden Pioneer Days

Ogden City will celebrate its 75th annual Pioneer Days. The celebration will include parades, a rodeo, music, farmers market, visual arts exhibits and fireworks.

UTAH COUNTY

Mapleton celebration

The Mapleton City Days of '47 celebration will feature a 5K race, breakfast, parade, inflatables, rock-climbing wall, art displays and food. Lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Most of the evening activities will be at Ira Allen Park, 1728 S. 800 West, 5-10 p.m. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m.

Fiesta Days Rodeo — Spanish Fork

The Wild West rides again at the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Rodeo on the Million Dollar Tour of Professional Rodeos with the world's top cowgirls and cowboys.

When • Saturday, July 20, 7 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday, July 22-24, 7 p.m.

Provo Pioneer Day Extravaganza

Provo City will host a July 24 celebration at North Park. The event will feature food, games, music, entertainment, a farmers market, antique car show, pioneer camp and museum, American Indian village and Wild West show.

SUMMIT COUNTY

Homestead Resort celebration

Pioneer Day activities at the Homestead Resort include cowboy poetry with Sparky, musical hay bales, lasso the bull, penny in a haystack, potato sack races, tug of war and wagon rides. Enjoy a barbecue and other food.

Fiddlers and Fireworks in Heber City

Celebrate Utah's Pioneer Day with dinner and an evening train ride. Dinner is served outside at the depot followed by a two-hour round trip that departs at 8:15 p.m. and travels to Decker Bay on the shores of Deer Creek Reservoir. On board, a troupe of fiddlers will perform. On the return trip the train stops and you can sit outside on the lake shore and watch the Charleston Fireworks from across the lake. CACHE COUNTY

Pioneers and Patriots Concert-Logan

The Utah Festival Orchestra and Ensemble will present a musical tribute to pioneers and patriots. The program features a tribute to the armed forces, a patriotic sing-along, John Philip Sousa's "The Thunderer," the Largo from Dvorák's "New World" Symphony, moving American folk music, Mormon pioneer songs and more. Tickets are available at the Utah Festival Box Office in the Dansante Building, 59 S. 100 West, Logan.
