Summer food and garden camps for kids

Petersen Family Farm » Children ages 6 to 12 can learn to plant seeds, harvest vegetables and feed animals at this Riverton farm. Camps held Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon in June and July. Tuition is $80 a week. Call 801-999-8548 or visit petersenfamilyfarm.com.

Wasatch Community Gardens » Full-day and half-day camps are offered June through mid-August for children ages 4 to 10 at Salt Lake City’s Grateful Tomato Garden. Full-day camps partner with Bad Dog Arts, Natural History Museum of Utah, Red Butte Garden and Tracy Aviary. For dates, times, prices or to register, visit wasatchgardens.org.

Wheeler Farm » Week-long summer camps, run from June to August for children ages 6-10. Campers will milk cows, gather eggs and spin wool. Tuition is $60 a week. For dates, times or to register, visit wheelerfarm.com

Viking Cooking School at Kimball Distributing » Learn about grilling, seasonal desserts and alfresco dining during the summer essentials cooking class for teens. Held Monday through Friday June 17-21, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuition is $400. Visit vikingcookingschool.com
