Eight months after closing because of an accidental oil fire, the Red Maple Chinese Restaurant has reopened in a new location.

The Cantonese-style restaurant, with a capacity of 350, celebrated a grand opening Thursday, at 2882 W. 4700 South. Owner Macy Chen said most of the dishes are the same, though she has plans to change them now that her chef recently visited China.

While there is a new barbecue pork dish, Chen said favorites — such as Pon Pon Chicken, Honey Walnut shrimp and Curry Chicken — remain. And the popular Dim Sum is still served on weekends.

"I want to open first and slowly change," she said. "I didn't want people to think this is a different place."

Red Maple was previously located at 3361 S. Redwood Rd.
