Woodland-based Gold Creek Farms took top honors in the 2013 United States Championship Cheese Contest recently held in Green Bay, Wis.

Cheesemaker Fernando Chavez took "Best of Class" in the "smoked hard cheeses" category for his smoked Parmesan. He took second place in the same category for his smoked Romano.
The contest was sponsored by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.
