Like Edry, Krensky often is told that she can’t make a difference with her art. "But there is something quite beautiful, in the face of any large power, to do something poetic," she says, "to let the government know what some people on the ground are thinking."

The 2013 Student Conference on Writing and Social Justice explores “acts of public creativity and participation in a digital age.” Events include a “collective joy crowd dance,” poetry slam with Jesse Parent, “graffiti wall for peace” and pizza party, at the campus fountain, beginning at 4 p.m. on April 25. Keynote presentations by Israeli graphic designer Ronny Edry and Utah dance activist Ashley Anderson take place April 26 at 1 p.m., followed by student presentations of their creative work for social justice.
