She's a winner
Utah soprano Rebecca Pedersen won the 2013 Metropolitan Opera National Council Rocky Mountain Region Auditions in Denver and will compete in the semifinals at the New York City opera house in March. The 15 regional winners, accompanied by piano, will sing in a closed competition to determine the finalists, who will perform in the Grand Finals Concert with the Met Orchestra on March 10. Up to five winners will receive $15,000 apiece. Pedersen, 21 and a native of Bountiful, is a student of Darrell Babidge at Brigham Young University.
