$9.95 • Pad Ga Prow

Pad Ga Prow was the first Thai dish I learned to cook at home, so I consider myself the connoisseur. Bon Appe Thai doesn't skimp on any of the key ingredients: herbaceous Thai basil, garlic and chile. Staple vegetables such as onion and bell peppers have a pleasing "just cooked" crunch, and if you choose chicken, the restaurant uses ground, which adds an extra meaty component to the dish, helping sop up all the delicious sauce.

Bon Appe Thai • 41 W. 3300 South, South Salt Lake; 801-485-1209. Open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.
