spotlight Show • Mike Gossard — no relation to Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam — is only 20, but he is leading his second band, Acidic, on a nationwide tour that includes opening for fellow California hard-rock band Trapt, which releases its new album "Born Again" on Jan. 22. Acidic was preceded by Gossard's Feisty Piranhas, which opened for the Misfits when Gossard was only 15. In a phone interview, the articulate and excitable Gossard complained that the temperature at his Los Angeles place had dipped to 30 degrees the night before. A veteran of playing Club Velour in Provo, Gossard said there's "nothing like Salt Lake City." Why? One of the reasons was that he always stops by Moochie's to eat a meatball sandwich. "It's straight from Philly," he enthused, and he was right. At this show, Acidic will be selling its forthcoming album "Copper Man," which will be released in the rest of the country on March 19. Yes, there's nothing like Salt Lake City. But good luck finding a drink in this dry town when you're 20.
