CBS wants to proceed with an 11th season of "Two and a Half Men" and would like Angus T. Jones to be part of it.
Jones’ future on the popular sitcom came into question after he slammed "Two and a Half Men" on a viral YouTube video in November. But CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler says all is forgiven.
"The kid’s 19 years old. I have a 24-year-old. Between the ages of 19 and 24, there are plenty of things my kid has said that I wish he hadn’t," Tassler told reporters Saturday after her executive media session at the Television Critics Association press tour. "The bottom line is that cooler heads prevailed. He’s been a beloved member of that cast for years and years and years, and he issued a public apology. At the end of the day (the producers) want him to come back and he wants to be back, and we move on."
Tassler added that currently no cast member is signed for "Two and a Half Men" beyond this season.
"We don’t have our cast deals. But that’s the price of doing business every year," she said. "The nice thing is this is a happy cast, these are happy people. We had a bit of a glitch, but what else is new?"
Other highlights from the CBS executive session:
Tassler says she’s "confident and excited" that "everything is almost completed" for a Season 9 renewal of "How I Met Your Mother." An official announcement is expected in a few days.
"Under the Dome," a 13 episode sci-fi thriller based on a Stephen King novel, will debut on June 24. The series is being produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment unit. "Under the Dome" is the saga of a small New England town that is suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome.
"Ever since ‘Jericho,’ I’ve loved these big-idea shows," Tassler said.
"Unforgettable" has been forgotten. Season 2 of the crime procedural starring Poppy Montgomery premieres 9 p.m. July 29 and will air in "The Good Wife" time slot during the summer.
