Sundance: Best bets for Friday, Jan. 18
Best bets for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival for Friday, Jan. 18:
"Kill Your Darlings"
3:30 p.m. • Eccles Theatre, 1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City
The early meeting of the leading lights of the Beat Generation (Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs and so on) involves a murder mystery in this drama. But what really matters is that the actor portraying Ginsberg is Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter himself and he's scheduled to be there.
"The Crash Reel"
6:30 and 9:30 p.m. • Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City
The Salt Lake City Gala features Lucy Walker's documentary about pro snowboarder Kevin Pearce, whose accident on the Park City halfpipe derailed his Olympic dreams.
9:30 p.m. • Eccles Theatre, 1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City
Don't know whether this drama, starring Robin Wright and Naomi Watts as friends who begin affairs with each other's sons, is any good. But the mere synopsis was enough to set the right-wing Sutherland Institute into a tizzy. So there's that.
