Time is running out for those who want to help select winners of the inaugural Salt Lake Tribune Choice Awards. This online poll recognizes Utah's best in dining, nightlife, arts and culture, recreation and destinations.
To vote, visit choiceawards.sltrib.com before Saturday, Dec. 15. Choose from the list of nominees we created or write in your favorite. Winners in each category will be announced in early February in a special edition of The Tribune and In magazine.
Here are some details about the nominees in our three nightlife categories: bars/nightclubs, live-music venues and late-night eats.
Area 51, Salt Lake City • Utah's subculture thrives at this bar where DJs favor alternative, electronica and '80s hits.
Bar-X, Salt Lake City • This historic dive was recently resurrected as an artisan cocktail club.
Circle Lounge, Salt Lake City • The sophisticated party-loving crowd likes to be seen at this circular-themed hot spot that is part decadent lounge, part sushi bar.
Club Jam in the Marmalade, Salt Lake City • The tastefully restored former auto shop rocks with music, karaoke and a disco ball, plus a first-class pool table. Don't forget the cookouts in good weather.
Green Pig Pub, Salt Lake City • This sports bar offers a rooftop patio with a beautiful urban view.
Poplar Street Pub, Salt Lake City • A low-key gastropub where you can talk to friends, play pool or watch a game but it also serves great bar food.
Sky Bar, Salt Lake City • This casual bar in the Red Lion Hotel transforms into a nightclub with dancing and DJs at 9 p.m.
The Garage, Salt Lake City • With warm wood interior, vintage signs and an oil refinery out back, The Garage offers DJs, live music and great comfort food.
The Hotel + Elevate, Salt Lake City • Clubgoers embrace the posh hotel lobby vibe and the chance to see Utah Jazz players and other local celebs.
The Red Door, Salt Lake City • Martinis are the specialty at this sophisticated downtown bar, with plush couches and a floor-to-ceiling mural.

Abravanel Hall, Salt Lake City • Whether it's the Utah Symphony or Jerry Seinfeld, you can hear everything thanks to the hall's crystal-clear acoustics.
Club Velour, Provo • The home of the Provo sound has been the birthplace of some of the best bands to come out of Utah recently.
Ellen Eccles Theatre, Logan • A sister of Kingsbury in terms of dÃ©cor and ambience, the venue presents classy acts that give Logan a good name.
Kilby Court, Salt Lake City • This all-ages club looks a lot like your garage and is about the same size but it's the best place to see local and touring performers before they hit it big.
Kingsbury Hall, Salt Lake City • This University of Utah venue houses a nonprofit performing arts group that serves up eclectic touring and local programming that captures the spirit of the city.
Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake City • Acoustics, acoustics, acoustics and those 360 harmonious voices aren't half-bad, either.
Red Butte Garden, Salt Lake City • It's not summer without enjoying a concert or two at this venue with a view.
The Depot, Salt Lake City • This indoor venue boasts top-tier acts and some of the best acoustics around.
The State Room, Salt Lake City • Tiered seating, reasonable showtimes and ticket prices as well as a diverse lineup, great sound and a level of intimacy you can't get anywhere else in town.
Usana Amphitheatre, West Valley City • Traffic and parking can be a nightmare, but once you're seated, the sound and atmosphere make for a great live experience.
