Everyone else has told Elizabeth Smart’s story. Now she will tell it herself in a memoir.
The New York Times reports that the publisher St. Martin’s Press has bought the rights to Smart’s memoir, which will tell of the Salt Lake City woman’s kidnapping at age 14 in 2002 and her months of captivity at the hands of Brian David Mitchell.

The book is scheduled to be released on Sept. 13, 2013, the Times reported.
In a statement, the now-married Smart said she waited until after testifying at Mitchell’s trial to tell the whole story. "Because of the legal proceedings, I couldn’t provide the broader context necessary to truly understand what occurred," she said.
Smart will be writing the book with Chris Stewart, the author of books such as The Great and the Terrible series and co-writer of Seven Miracles That Saved America. Stewart may be busy, though, having been elected to Congress in Utah’s 2nd District earlier this month. (But, hey, if Orrin Hatch can write songs while being a senator, anything’s possible.)
