Out Takes: Mellow rattlesnake in Snow Canyon State Park
This is an archived article that was published on sltrib.com in 2012, and information in the article may be outdated. It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted.

Ron Olroyd sent in this photo after finding the mellow fellow in the pre-dawn light at Snow Canyon State Park in August 2012.

Olroyd happened to spot the rattlesnake just before a jogger without a light happened upon the scene.

"I don't think the snake would have gotten out of his way in time," Olroyd said. "He was a really calm critter. Didn't rattle or posture in any way. Guess he'd had a good night." —
