Utah residents can now register for a chance to buy individual tickets for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Registration runs now through Dec. 17 at the Sundance website. Those who sign up will receive a randomly assigned time slot on Jan. 5-6 to purchase individual tickets online — which means no more lining up in the wee small hours at Trolley Square and filling out forms.

Ticket-buyers can pick up their tickets at the box offices on Jan. 12-13: 136 Heber Ave., Park City; Trolley Square, 600 S. 700 East, Salt Lake City; the Sundance Resort on the North Fork of Provo Canyon; at Peery's Egyptian Theatre, 2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden.

Also on Jan. 12, tickets for the Best of Fest screenings (set for Jan. 28, free for all Utah residents) and Townie Tuesday (Jan. 22, for Summit County residents only) will be distributed, while supplies last.

The festival runs Jan 17 to 27 in Park City, and in venues in Salt Lake City, Ogden and the Sundance resort.
