CD • Green Day got plenty of publicity last month when frontman Billie Joe Armstrong launched into an expletive-filled rant at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and then was quickly ushered into rehab.

Too bad that's all the headline space the Bay Area band will be getting, because its new album "¡Uno!" is uninspiring. The trio's last two albums, 2004's "American Idiot" and 2009's "21st Century Breakdown," were ambitious and tuneful.

But the latest effort lacks the spirit and fun that made us all fall in love with this pop-punk band in the early days. Now, seeing a 40-year-old jackass isn't amusing — it is just sad.
