This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project has a nice beat and is easy to dance to.
The goal of The Contras, a rock band from Roy, Utah, is simple: "We're working on an album that will change the world, and we want you to be a part of that!" So states the band on its Kickstarter page, as the musicians explain that "we want to create something more than just a bunch of songs jumbled together, we want to put together a story that people will enjoy."
The point of The Contras' proposed album, the site says, "is to get people to listen to our music, but as a band, our collective goal is to change the way people look at life through this album."

The band — singer-keyboardist Tim Lee, guitarist Tyler Harris, bass player Justin Skinner and drummer connor Dela-Cruz — is aiming to raise a mere $1,000, basically break-even money, to record a new album. So far, with 16 days to go, the band has raised $600 in pledged, or 60 percent of the goal.
Benefits for donors range from a digital download of the band's 2013 EP, "#1" (for $5) to an acoustic concert at the donor's house (for a $1,000 pledge).
