This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project mixes two classic kids' games into something new.
Cody Jarrett, an inventor and entrepreneur in Herriman, has created Lawn Battleship — an outdoor game that combines elements of croquet and the naval-battle game Battleship.
The game happens on a lawn, on which metal hoops with plastic panels — which represent the "ships." Players take turns throwing water-filled plastic bocce balls at the hoops, hoping to hit the ships and knock them out of action. The player with the last ship surviving wins.
Jarrett is trying to raise $25,0000 via Kickstarter to pay for plastic-injection molds, other tools, graphic design, and production costs.
So far, the Kickstarter campaign has raised $1,680 in pledges. The project deadline is April 10.
Donors can receive anything from an invitation to the first Lawn Battleship tournament (for a $5 pledge) to collector's edition prototypes of the game straight from Jarrett's garage (for a pledge of $8,500).
