FX continues its tradition of good, offbeat dramas with The Bridge (Wednesday, 11 p.m.) a police/murder procedural that is worth giving a chance. It's worth getting through the first episode, which can be somewhat off-putting.Detective Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) is called in when a body is found lying on the bridge between El Paso, Texas, and Juarez, Chihuahua. Lying right on top of the borderline, half in the United States and half in Mexico.Cross takes the cliché of the brusque police officer to a whole new level. Because it's not the standard cliché. She has Asperger's, a form of autism, and she has nothing approaching tact.Watching her talk to the victim's husband is painful. Intentionally.Cross ends up teaming up with Mexican detective Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir), an uncomfortable but fascinating partnership."The Bridge" is full of unexpected plot twists.
