Jewel, who once lived in Utah, will perform at Deer Valley on Aug. 24. In the meantime, she tells tabloid magazine In Touch Weekly that "being a farmhand is a dirty job."

The magazine reveals in this excerpt: Not your typical Hollywood diva, Jewel is set to star in Lifetime's Ring of Fire (out May 27). The 39-year-old star lives on a 2,400-acre ranch in Stephenville, Texas, with her husband, former professional bull rider Ty Murray, 43, and son Kase, almost 2. "It's branding season, so we've been castrating and earmarking our cattle," Jewel confides in the new issue of In Touch, of keeping busy after wrapping production on her latest film. "City people are squeamish about that stuff, but I grew up on a farm, so I rope, brand — all of that!" she dishes about her country living where she tends to 250 cows, 15 horses, four chickens and two dogs. Although the singer turned actress turned farmhand admits she's never lived in Hollywood, and doesn't completely rule out that lifestyle, don't count on her to move to the LA anytime soon. She says the nearest town to her now is about 20 miles away and comes complete with a Walmart. "I even have a neighbor that gives us [goat] milk!" she says of her open-style living. "I was raised in rural Alaska, so that's what I enjoy — open space and fresh air."
