BYU professor Steve Lindeman to have record-release party

A CD of compositions that BYU professor Steve Lindeman wrote at Jim McNeely's BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, called "The Day After Yesterday," is being released on Jazz Hang Records on June 11.

BYU's Synthesis, directed by Ray Smith, who performed the music on the CD, is playing a concert on Saturday, June 15, at BYU's Madsen Hall to celebrate.

The 7:30 p.m. concert is free.

The CD features special guests Kelly Eisenhour, Jay Lawrence, Ron Brough, and some other friends.

Madsen Recital Hall is at the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU.

Lindeman, a professor of music at BYU, teaches theory and analysis, jazz studies, and piano. In 2009, he was the co-winner, along with Lawrence, of the Utah Arts Council Jazz Composer Commission. The work was performed in July 2009 at the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival by the Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jerry Floor.
