Queensryche — featuring original lead singer Geoff Tate — have just signed a worldwide record deal with Los Angeles-based independent record label, Cleopatra Records.
The band will perform at the Peppermill Casino in West Wendover, Nevada, on April 6. Although a line-up was originally announced in the fall of 2012, things have changed. The band will now bassist Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy/Dio/Whitesnake/Quiet Riot), guitarist Kelly Gray (Queensryche 1998 - 2001), keyboardist Randy Gane and new additions guitarist Robert Sarzo (Quiet Riot/Hurricane) and drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC /Dio/Rhino Bucket). The band will be hitting the road to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the band's 1988 release, "Operation: Mindcrime," performing all 15 songs from the album along with other hits and rarities from the catalog.
"I try to surround myself with the best players available and feel our longtime fans deserve nothing less," said Tate in a press release. "I expect the forthcoming effort to be one of our best yet."
There are two bands, by the way, that are calling themselves Queensrÿche — one features Tate and the other features some band members who have been in the band since 1982. Both can use the brand until the next court date, set for November 18, 2013, according to Loudwire.
