Local music artists in Utah Valley are giving back to their community by raising money for the Utah Valley food bank.

Thirteen artists are featured on a new Christmas benefit album, "A Red Cardigan Christmas", produced by local independent record label Red Cardigan Records.

Red Cardigan Records is donating a portion of the album's proceeds to help provide less-fortunate individuals and families throughout Utah, Wasatch and Summit Counties with emergency assistance, food and other basic necessities this holiday season.

Glenn Rowley, president of Red Cardigan Records and the album's executive producer, said the album hopes to make a difference in the community, all while showcasing the area's burgeoning music scene.

"The album is a fantastic representation of the incredible music coming out of Utah Valley," said Rowley, a junior at Brigham Young University, in a press release. "Being a new label, we're grateful that so many talented, well-known artists wanted to be a part of this project. This music can be used as a powerful tool to help insure that struggling families in our community enjoy this time of year and have a merry Christmas."

"A Red Cardigan Christmas" features 13 Christmas classics and original songs by YouTube sensation Lindsey Stirling; "American Idol" finalist Brooke White's band Jack and White and the Nashville Tribute Band.

To support the album's release, Red Cardigan Records also hosted a three-night Christmas concert series at Provo eatery The Awful Waffle on Dec. 4, 5 and 6.

The 13-track collection is available now exclusively on iTunes and Spotify, and is available at select locations throughout Utah Valley including The Awful Waffle and Guru's Cafe.Established in 2011, Red Cardigan Records is an independent record label currently based in Provo, Utah.
