This post may sound like a bad '80s stand-up routine ("Democrats go like this..., while Republicans go like this …".). But after walking from the Hilton (where the R's are congregating) and the Sheraton (where the D's are partying), it was hard to miss the differences between the two shindigs.

• There's a long line at the bar at the Democrats' party at the Sheraton. Not so at the GOP bash at the Hilton.

• Less food at the D's. More food at the R's – or there was before the catering crews started clearing everything away at 8:45.

• There's a smokers' area outside the Sheraton doors. No such going on at the Hilton.

• Fewer kids at the Sheraton than at the Hilton.

• Of course, MSNBC on all screens at the Sheraton, and Fox on full blast at the Hilton.

• And around 9:10 p.m. Mountain time, much happier people at the Sheraton.
