One of the Internet memes out there today — especially among women fed up with male Republican congressional candidates talking about rape — is the advice to "vote like your ladyparts depend on it."
Salt Lake City photographer/artist Cat Palmer goes one step further in her latest series. Just the title explains it all: "you don't OWN me (keep the politicians out of our vaginas)."
The photos show women, most of them nude (the photo accompanying this post was the least revealing, and the only one a Tribune editor deemed postable on this website) — with an arm covering the breasts and a hand covering the "bikini area." Each woman has messages scrawled on her skin, such as "My body is not a battlefield," "Let me live my life" and "Keep your rosaries off my ovaries."
Palmer's work often plays on feminist themes, and sometimes features models with messages written on the skin. This time, the message is nakedly clear.
