The danger of being a judge is that you're going to be judged. (Sort of like being a critic.)
And in the case of X Factor (7 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13) judge Demi Lovato, how can you not judge her horrendous rendition of the National Anthem before Game 4 of the World Series?
She had problems with pitch. With tempo. With hitting the right note. And she made the far-from-infrequent mistake of trying to make "The Star Spangled Banner" her own.
If someone had turned in that performance on "The X Factor," that person would have been quickly sent on his/her way.
By the way, NBC is repeating Monday's episode of The Voice (7 p.m., Ch. 5) for folks who might have missed it because of Hurricane Sandy. And if it blunts "The X Factor," well, nobody at NBC is going to complain.
