The Crystal Method — Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland —are a Las Vegas-based duo who are one of the most influential American electronic dance music artists.
In a phone interview, Kirkland said Utah has a very special place in his heart.
"I got my fake I.D. in St. George back in the day," he said.
On a more serious note, he added that an early Utah show marked "the first time we ever played [1996 single] 'Keep Hope Alive.' The crowd was really into it and that was when we knew he had a great track."
Most of the duo's early output was recorded in what has become known as The Bomb Shelter. "It was the combination of a space shuttle cockpit, a million-dollar studio, and a broom closet," Kirkland said. "It was functional, dirty and hot, as we lacked air conditioning, but it was all we needed to create three records that we are really proud of."
A new album, "Sling The Decks," is in the works, and Kirkland said the music is "easy on the ears and it's good in bed."
