My sort-of-like/hate relationship with Gossip Girl (8 p.m., CW/Ch. 30) is about to end.

I can't say that I ever really loved the show, but I used to like it. I'm a sucker for a good prime-time soap, and for a while "Gossip Girl" was just that.

But it has long since degenerated into a bad soap. "Gossip Girl" jumped the shark at the beginning of Season 2 when Blair started dating a prince. The show got ridiculous, and never recovered.

Why am I still watching it? Because I'm sort of stupid. Stupid enough to think a show that had jumped the shark might jump back.

The good news is that tonight marks the beginning of the sixth and final season. The better news is that there will be only 10 episodes, and we're promised some sort of a finale.

Once "Gossip Girl" is over, what will I do when I want to watch a show that used to be good and now I just complain about bitterly?

Oh, yeah. There's always "Grey's Anatomy."
