The first teaser trailer of "The Lone Ranger," Disney's blockbuster filmed in part in southern Utah, is online — and you kind of have to see it to believe it.
It's surprising not for the expensive action sequences that director Gore Verbinski (who made the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films) has mounted, nor for the emphasis on tarted-up women in Old West garb, nor for the elaborate way producer Jerry Bruckheimer's vanity logo is deployed.
No, the surprising part — surprising when you consider that this is the year 2012 — is the broken English used by Johnny Depp as the Lone Ranger's Indian sidekick, Tonto: "There come a time, kemo sabe, when good man must wear mask."
Expect more dropped articles and other parts of speech when "The Lone Ranger" hits movie theaters next summer.
