• This year's top winner at the Sundance Film Festival, "Beasts of the Southern Wild," has been declared ineligible for the end-of-year Screen Actors Guild Awards, because the made-in-Louisiana production used non-professional (and, specifically, non-union) actors. Fox Searchlight, the film's distributor, says it won't try to retroactively qualify the film for SAG notice — a process that would mean going back and paying the actors more. [The Wrap]
• A movie based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved "Little House on the Prairie" books (and the also-beloved '70s TV show) is in the works. The director will be David Gordon Green, who was an acclaimed indie filmmaker ("George Washington," "All the Real Girls") before turning to stoner comedies ("Pineapple Express," "Your Highness").
