Murder By DeathSpotlight show • If you aren't familiar with the 1976 film of the same name, Murder By Death sounds like a death-metal band. But the Indiana-based band plays hardcore folk with the unusual elements of cello and other nontraditional rock instruments thrown in to add depth and drama. The band's sixth album, "Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon," will be released in late September, said Adam Turla, singer and guitarist, in a phone interview. A Bar Deluxe veteran, the band will perform about four songs from the forthcoming album. The new release isn't a concept album similar to the band's past work. Much of it was inspired by living in rural Indiana, Turla said, and seeing many of his friends raised on farms move to the city. "I didn't want to set up any guidelines," he said. "There's a lot of Indiana on this record. It captures the feeling of what it means to live here. It has a small-town vibe."
