'Clothespin Puppets'

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts holds its Third Saturday for Families event, so museumgoers can get inspiration from Raven, Zotz or Padiusir to create their own puppet character, then perform in the museum's puppet theater.

Call for entries

Utah Arts & Museums announces a call for entries for its annual statewide visual arts competition. This year's media are craft and photography. Works are chosen for display by two out-of-state artists or arts professionals. Six $500 awards will be given to artists chosen by the jurors The exhibition will run from Oct. 19 through Nov. 30.

'As It Lays'

Los Angeles-based artist Alex Israel uses Hollywood as a material to produce videos, objects, performances and installations. 'As it Lays' 2012 employs the television talk-show format as a platform to produce contemporary portraits.

'Sensual Scapes'

"Sensual Scapes," a collection of oil paintings in the plein air style by Robin Staub and Phil Wagner, will be exhibited at the Bighorn Gallery at Dead Horse Point State Park.
