• Christian Bale visited a hospital in Aurora, Colo., on Tuesday, visiting survivors recovering from last Friday's shooting at a screening of Bale's movie, "The Dark Knight Rises." Reportedly, Bale did this on his own dime, and asked hospital officials not to tell the media. [Denver Post]
• In response to last week's shooting, Warner Bros. is ordering reshoots of its drama "Gangster Squad" – to remove a scene that shows mobsters peppering a movie theater with machine-gun fire. Because of the reshoots, the movie will now open in January, instead of its scheduled Sept. 7 opening. [The Hollywood Reporter]
• Two '70s TV icons have left us: Sherman Hemsley, who played the upwardly mobile dry-cleaning magnate George Jefferson on "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons," died at 74; and Chad Everett, who played the hunky Dr. Joe Gannon on "Medical Center" (and made a surprising appearance in David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive"), died at 75.
