The Days of '47 All-Horse Parade returned Tuesday in Sandy with about 40 entries and some 300 to 400 horses, ponies, mules, carriages and wagons.

Last year's parade was called off as a precaution after several cases of the highly contagious, sometimes fatal EHV-1 virus struck local horses.

"I'm glad we're past all that," said parade chair Merl Thurgood. "We're very excited to be back in business."
