Thirty-two pianists from around the world competed this week in the 2012 Bachauer International Junior competition, and six finalists were selected on Friday night to compete on Saturday.
The finalists who will compete on Saturday in the ongoing competition at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center are:
Tackling the ivories
The 2012 Gina Bachauer International Junior and Young Artists piano competitions continue at the Rose Wagner Center for the Performing Arts, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. The junior competition, for pianists ages 11-13, continues through June 23. The Young Artists competition, for pianists ages 14-18, is June 25-30. A total of $50,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. Sixty-five pianists, representing 14 countries, will perform.
The competitions include an opening gala and daily competition rounds open to the public and concludes with a concert in which finalists perform concertos accompanied by pianist Colette Valentine. Winners are announced at the end of each final concert.
