Salt Lake City-based http://www.positivemusicanddownloads.com (PMD), which caters primarily to the LDS audience, reached its 10,000th download milestone recently .

Founder and tireless local music supporter Gaylen Rust said in a press release that the number shows the site has established a "steady, real demand around the country and around the world." Through web software tracking, PMD learned that the 10,000th download was a customer in Highland. PMD was launched in November 2008 with dozens of mainstream and LDS artists and musical groups. Today, there are hundreds of featured musicians ranging from popular artists to LDS performers such as William Joseph, Daniel Beck, Cherie Call, the Nashville Tribute Band, and Jon Schmidt.

Foreign sales represent 10 percent of PMD's transactions and this past month, product was shipped to El Salvador, Germany, France, Indonesia, South Africa and Switzerland. Rust said PMD has received orders or downloads from customers in 40 foreign countries and all 50 state.

Rust is the owner of Rare Rust Coins, Inc, and R. Legacy Entertainment, both based out of Salt Lake City. He is a great proponent of the arts, collaborating with the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University on many endeavors, including sponsoring "Always . . . Patsy Cline" for the 2010 Old Lyric Repertory Company season and "Suessical: The Musical" for the Utah State Theatre.
