When I wrote an article (http://bit.ly/wq4Rkt) on the uninspiring public art awaiting shoppers at City Creek Center, I neglected to point out the accidental art.

As I reconnoitered outside the chain link fences of the mega-shopping mall that will open on Thursday, March 22, I noticed the play of afternoon sun on the windows of Promontory Residential Tower on the project's west side. (I'm not referring to Nordstom's much-hyped translucent glass wall of LED lights).

The resulting reflections on the north wall of the Nordstrom were the most evocative art I found at the center—patterns reminiscent of Anasazi pottery that seem to repudiate themes of American acquisitiveness, consumerism and general bad taste with the simplicity of nature and the eternal cycles of the sun so important to Utah's original peoples. Or something.
