The Salt Lake Valley is alive with the sound of symphonies this week five different performances by five different local ensembles. Some perform alone; others perform in concert with other groups.
Oquirrh Mountain Symphony: American Tall Tales
Oquirrh Mountain Symphony and Repertory Dance Theatre present "American Tall Tales: Larger Than Life," a celebration of American folk heroes through music and dance.

Murray Symphony: St. Patrick's Day Festival
The Murray Symphony and their special guests , Celtic Mist, present an evening of great Irish music, including "Irish Washerwoman," "Danny Boy," "Lord of the Dance" and other favorites. Celtic Mist is a four-member group featuring a variety of acoustic instruments including fiddles, whistles, Irish bouzouki and bodhran.

Salt Lake Symphony and Utah Voices: Glorious Beethoven
The Salt Lake Symphony and Utah Voices will present "Glorious Beethoven," performing the "Ninth Symphony" and "Gloria" from "Missa Solemnis," with guest soloists soprano Jennifer Larson, mezzo-soprano Kirsten Gunlogson, tenor Robert Breault, and baritone Steven Meredith.

West Valley Symphony: England, France and Russia
The symphony will perform "Symphony #2 in B Minor" by Alexander Borodin; "Sacred and Profane Dances" by Claude Debussy, featuring harp soloist Linsey Lesser; and "The Lark Ascending" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, featuring violin soloist Kelly Richardson.

The American West Symphony of Sandy
The symphony will perform Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique" and Gershwin's "Piano Concerto in F."
